IMPROVING CREATIVITY THROUGH COOKING CLASS ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN AGED 5–6 YEARS AT TK PERTIWI KARANGSARI
Abstract
This study aims to improve the creativity of children aged 5–6 years through cooking class play activities at TK Pertiwi Karangsari. The research employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The research subjects were 24 children, comprising 13 girls and 11 boys. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation using a creativity assessment sheet as the research instrument. The indicators of creativity covered fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration.
The results showed a continuous improvement in children’s creativity in each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage of children in the “Very Well Developed” (BSB) category was 29.17%. This increased to 50% in Cycle I and reached 87.5% in Cycle II. Therefore, cooking class play activities were proven effective in enhancing early childhood creativity. This activity provided opportunities for children to express themselves, explore ideas, and produce independent work in a joyful learning environment.
